$10... which is usually just over £5, dependant on the exchange rate being stable. Not a huge difference, but why is it happening?

At today's exchange rate $10 is around £6.86, with VAT £7.89. Pretty close to the £7.99 actual price I'd say.

Re: COD5 MAP PACK DISGRACE

Whilst £8 isn't a great deal of money by most peoples standards I can see why some people have reservations.

Justifying 25% of the original purchase price for a small amount of content is pretty hard, considering also that they dont have to pay packaging and shipping costs etc. If you were paying £2 for every map and level in the game the cost would be far higher than the £30-£40 most people will have paid for a new game.

I'd also hazard a guess that the development of additional maps would be far less involved at this stage as well, as the developers would have already developed the tools necesary (map editors etc) for the job.

I'm not against developers getting paid for a job well done (I'm one myself, not games though) but I can see why people complain :smileyhappy:

Re: COD5 MAP PACK DISGRACE

Zombies? I played a zombie map/building at the weekend. The only time I've been able to link up with a mate and play together. This map option dissapeared at the weekend and now I can't team up so to speak.

So the zombie map is part of the pack? That would explain a lot.

Does that then mean that in order to play with a friend I HAVE to buy the map pack? If this is truly the case then I too am dissapointed about being charged. I'd expect to find the existing problems to be sorted before I upgraded map packs.

No way am I going to buy extra maps just to make the game work. (Sells game)

Don't mind paying for DLC,

Glad I never bothered with this game,

£8 for 4 maps?

UT3 getting 19 new maps, 2 new game modes, 2 new characters, 2 new power up etc for free

Plus it got the split screen and trophy update not long ago

Trust you to put it in context, well i just got a nice lot of stuff FREE from insomniac for resistance 2 and then got a few new maps and some new skins for much less than the cod maps. Now im not saying it dosn't cost money to make etc, but for maps £8 a little bit pricey, if i loved the game i'd gladly pay it but i've never been too struck on cod, there great games that i enjoy but there not something i stick at too long.

Oh and by no means would i expect them to be free, nobody works for nothing (ok sometimes epic and critereon). If you enjoy the game just splash out whats £8 if you'll get alot of enjoyment out of them.

Re: COD5 MAP PACK DISGRACE

Aren't both map packs (COD4's & COD5's) both £8?

I swear they are.

When the COD4 maps came out they were £6.99, £7.99 or £8.99. I dont know, I've slept since then.

But they were put on sale the other month for £4.99.
