Many games now come with collector edditions too at nearly twice the price..
This would be great (I do own many collector editions) if the extras you got were actually included.. BUT NO...
Let me explain...
GOW Ultimate Trillogy.. £110 notes
Most of the extra contenet comes in the form of DLC, which if you use you permanantly devalue your collectors edition. This code can never be used again so you cant sell it on at a later stage.. Hell even if you dont use the DLC code the code expires after a period of time and cant be used so its devalued again.. This to me is really bad, sure for me personally i may get loads of fun out of it but when im bored of ir and want to sell it on, its pretty much worthless...
Dont get me wrong Collectors eddition shoul be available, But SHOULD have the PHYSICAL Media included. The extras should be included on the disk not by DLC..
Exceptions may be Heavy Rain Special Edition as while the extras were DLC the game was the same price as the normal version, so cant complain..
What does every one else think.

It's simply to get more people to buy games on release day.
Games are very expensive when they are released, but they drop in price pretty quickly. So the developers want people to buy the games early on (obviously). Free DLC's and the like are there to get people to feel like they are missing out if they aren't one of the "early buyers".
I buy collector's editions if I like the developers and if the game looks ok. It's more a symbolic "I support you -- here's some extra cash" than anything else. But I haven't really felt that any of the Collectors/Special/UltraMegaFlex Editions I have bought actually were worth it with regards to the material stuff I got. But as I stated, for me it's more of an "extra donation" than anything else.

The hole point is collectors NEVER Sell on there collections So Resale is NEVER going to effect it.
they may even lock the extras to a single PSN account with collector edition DLC.

My point isnt about the collector edditions its the cheapness of them,
They have said they are going to be releasing GOW Collection in EU also, that was after they told peole the only way to get it was collector edition, I considered it but have the GOW collection imported, It gave me the GOW3 demo too. Reading reviews also that said the box is plastic and cheapish also put me off, then they removed the only thing that would have persuaded me to buy it.
But what really annoys me is that most of the content is DLC, its not actual media, at 110 notes they could have thrown in a DVD with the content on it. If I dont use codes within set time they expire and become worthless..
Also the sell on and i know a lot of peole that buy 2nd hand limited editions of games, usualy games you never thought you would like then play the game it rapidly becomes one of your fave games and the only way to get these editions is pre-owned.
Final Fantasy XIII arived for me today i ordered the special edition of that, everything is included, the music is on a CD etc.. If like heavy rain and GOW Trilogy the music was DLC I would have been dissapointed, im not even sure the DLC music can be Xferred OFF your PS3 to be played on your IPOD or elswhere..
TO me its price to content... 60 notes for Final Fantasy worth it as its physical media i dont need my ps3 to use, even after I upgrade to PS4, im always going o have access to it anywhere.
GOW 3 (trillogy) lets take 30 notes of retail for GOW collection so thats 80 notes for GOW 3 with some DLC and a plastic box.. to me thats a rip off.. To me it would be worth it if the interviews and sountrack were on DVDs or CDs etc.
Heavy Rain Collector Edition Sameprice as standard, defo a bargain even if its all DLC.
Really this discussion is about wether you think its better value for money to have physical media you cant look at keep use anywhere etc or if you think virtual media thats restricted to only be available on your ps3 is better value.. I prefer to own the media.

I have preordered this for £102
You do have a really good point - when i think of it that way i do see the evil side of industries that con us and force us into submission.
But personally, it's only £110 - i get all 3 games, all 3 soundtracks with a big box to fill it with. Sure i don't want stupid postcards, instead i want the Long arse documentary included in the US version.
3 games, 3 soundtracks was all i cared about - Oh and the DLC is also awesome.
Don't buy this if you have an intention on selling it at a later stage.
