I've just been playing the Ratchet demo to Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time and really enjoyed it and am downloading the Clank demo now. I enjoyed the demo to Tools Of Destruction too. So anyway, I've been thinking of buying these games but wondered if anyone could tell me, do you need to have played the PS2 and PSP games to know whats going on in the story? I haven't played any of those games.

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't need to play the PS2 or PSP games to understand what's going on in the series of PS3 games. The PS3 games (dubbed the "Future" series) are all the same story arc, so you'd only need to play Tools of Destruction and then Quest for Booty to understand what's going on in A Crack in Time.

Just FYI, the backstory is explained at the beginning of A Crack in time albeit in less detail. But yes i'd recommend playing Tools ad Quest beause they are great Games.

My first R&C game was Tools of Destruction and I didnt have any issues with the story. Quest for Booty follows on from Tools directly but, if you buy Tools of Destruction first you shouldn't have any trouble.
