Ok guys I've got Rock Band and Rock Band 2.  I've not finished the original but want to play all the songs in the second.  I know there is an unlock key to download the songs from 1 to the HDD to use for 2 BUT.....

... will this do all the songs or just the ones I've unlocked by playing the original game?

Do I have to play RB1 to unlock all songs or can I just buy the key and play them from the start in RB2?

You get all the RB1 songs to use right away in RB2, as if they were DLC tracks so they're available for Random Setlists and Make A Setlist challenges from the off. And no, you don't need to have played RB1, I basically just picked it up as a DLC disc.

If I'm correst you DON'T get ALL of the RB1 songs into RB2......But you do get a good selection of them transported over!

All but Sabbath, Maiden, Metallica and Tokio Hotel.

Aren't the Maiden tracks on RB1 covers anyway?  Get the 12 pack DLC and who cares.  

With RB1, RB2, Lego AND my DLC - 300* tracks off one disc - happy days!

Apparently there are over 1000 songs now on RB2 store

Do you actualy have to own Rock Band 1/Lego Rock Band to import the tracks into Rock Band 2 or can you just rent/borrow them?

you can rent both titles, though with lego you would need to hope that the export key in the box hasn't been used - it's a one time only deal.  

Though you could buy from gamestation then take back withing 10 days and get money back as you are not satisfied with that particular game

Should probably go and buy Rock Band 2 first though
