I thought the same however someone told me that it only counts for games that have been in development from 2009 it is mandatory to have trophies... anything before that is optional.

Its game released, the only exception is if a game came out last year and only arrives in another region after, like Ghost Busters will be forced to have trophies but the US release of Africa wont.
