Does anyone have any tips for defeating the Sentinel during the freefall?

I've done it once on Normal and now I'm playing Hard mode but no matter how fast I tap  he always struggles just at the end and gets blasted by the beams. I spent at least an hour at it last night and there's only so much button bashing someone can do.

Any tips would be appreciated it as it's hampering my enjoyment of the game and I can't continue on until I get past it.

I know what you mean, I finally did it by using my glasses cleaner cloth and quickly kept rubbing across    fairly quickly and it worked after about 3 times trying.

I've given up on it for the day as my hand can't take any more button bashing. I'll try later or tomorrow.

Well I did it at last...

Didn't play it all day went back to it a few minutes ago and did it first time without any trouble at all. Didn't do anything different, just kept tapping and tapping until the chest opened

Now I can move on with the game as that's the only hard part for me
