2011 a year of change for you ?

Some people say humans are creatures of habit.A organism that can be well frankly predicted very easy with traits or actions and words. To a extent I can kinda believe this.I myself realised after a few years of owning a PS3 i was constantly buying the same game series year in year out and got very bored of it.

So this year I've promised to break into new francises and genres of gaming, and I like to think I've accomplished this mission pretty well.

1 thing I've picked up on since making this change is I've cut down my FPS count ALOT.Where as I would be buying 5+ FPS games I've cut down to just 1 this year, and in it's place RPG's have taken a strong forfront in my title buying.

Deus Ex , Uncharted 3, Skyrim along with Batman -AC, Assassins Creed,Portal 2 all make the grade for this year in a changed line up.

Since coming into new genres and series I have in a way really started to love and get deeper into gaming. While blokes at my work talk about COD all day long and it being the true essance of gaming  I sat back and thought " no you really have no idea how great gaming is until you play Deus Ex or experiance Skyrim or Uncharted 3"

Anyways to close this long post i have 2 questions

Have you done the same ?

If so are you enjoying these new games and series and genres ??

Re: 2011 a year of change for you ?

I have also changed my style of gaming drasticly

From 2007 - 2010  all i used to play is COD and a few other games but mainly COD. But then i looked into other game franchises such as Uncharted 3, Portal 2, Fallout New Vegas, Gran turismo 5, F1,

InFamous 1 & 2, Bioshock 2 and many other games.

Best decision i ever made, looking into other games / genres, there so many good games out there, and i dont expect 2012 to be any different!!!

Re: 2011 a year of change for you ?

[ Edited ]

I have not so much changed gaming franchises as i have changed gaming hardware of late........360 is going on ebay as soon as i get time to set it up for sale, one PS3 is also up for ebay sale while our second PS3 is kept but only for the occasional only PS3 exclusive now and to use with PlayTV as a DVB, all other gaming will be on the PC for the foreseeable future.....And why you might ask.......One time codes, I figure if I cant access my £40 console games fully without the need to enter the world of serial keys then I may as well be doing just that via the PC versions, which are always cheaper, and always offer more, like the release of LA Noira on the PC, cheaper than the console yet it comes with all the DLC.

So 2011 for me will see the 360 gone at last, the PS3 relegated to the occasional exclusive and the PC becoming the dominant gaming machine again.

Re: 2011 a year of change for you ?

I have noticed changes in my choice of games too. I've only bought 2 FPS all year (KZ3 and BF3), got hooked on Gran Turismo 5 and fell back into ice hockey. Picked up a few puzzle-type games, more third person stuff and even an rpg in Mass Effect 2 which I'm really enjoying.

Change is good. :smileyhappy:

Re: 2011 a year of change for you ?

always had a variety of games going on thru the years

life and gaming would b boring just confining myself to 1 or 2 genres or even just 1 or 2 games

Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase

Re: 2011 a year of change for you ?

I have changed the games I play, while I have always enjoyed all games. I have stop playing COD totally, given up on the most boring FPS. I picked up BF and that was a welcome changed.

I stop buying games on the back of company reviews and buying games because I wanted to play them.
