£24.99 is this the start of a price war ?

[ Edited ]

This is just incase the Fifa price thread gets moved.

Ok its true Morrisons is selling Fifa 09 at £24.99 but the point of this thread is as titled is the price war beginning?.

One big point with Morrisons is it looks like this could be a general trend for some of the big titles coming out. This isn't insider knowledge but with a brand new title by EA at 24.99 and the very recent sale they had which included some very recent releases, this could well be a possibility.

We shall see if Bio Shock goes the same way and maybe this really is the beginning of a price war.

if it does start a price war, i personally think its a win win situation for the customers, although you might have to wait a few days before you get the game;kinda like with what morrisons have done with Fifa.

i wonder if the same will happen when LBP comes out?:smileywink:

I don't know what stores pay for games from the suppliers / distributors but this price must be close to be what they term a "loss leader". May be someone can enlighten us to what mark up retailers put on items.

It's a great thing, Morrison's making every game on every platform £24.99 was fantastic and many are following this price drop.

i can see why the might sell the item at an overall loss, but if they sell alot of the item, which they probably will they'll still make a fair decent profit,

I'm pretty sure that most games are bought at about 10-20% their RRP. In huge quantities obviously! :smileywink:
