60Gb PS3....Dead.

Hi all, my day 1 launch 60gig died today after being on for about 20 min. Ylod situation.

Gonna do a fix hopefully tomorrow. But i was just wondering about backed up stuff.

When you back up the ps does your saved game data be backed up too? And the likes of downloaded rockband songs. Ironically it died 3 days after i backed up the ps for the 1st time since it was bought.

But it served me well, 3 years of full time playing, worked it out to around 6-8 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 years. Around 8500 hours. Yeah i no, i have a lot of time on my hands.

Re: 60Gb PS3....Dead.

Hopefully yours is ok, its nice to have your launch console. On the bright side it does give me the opportunity to get a new slim. not sure which one yet, the 250gig has a great deal with 2 blu-rays, 1 game, blu-ray remote for €325.

It seems none of the music games backups work when transfered to a new PS3 via the restore method, possibly something to do with the licensing of the tracks. I'd managed to back mine up the night before mine died and none of my Rock Band, Guitar/DJ Hero or SingStar data tranfered over. The tracks etc you can redownload (although SingStar requires a call to Sony before you can redownload it on the new PS3) but you salso lose all your high scores/vids/pics/audio etc.

I meant in SingStar (vids/pics/audio high scores) and the other games you lose unlocks/highscores etc.

It does actually restore all your videos/music/themes etc from the old machine. That was one small mercy I was glad of, didn't fancy putting my whole CD colection back in again, it took me blimen ages.

Re: 60Gb PS3....Dead.

Sorry to hear about your loss, if you can get her back up and running when you do get your new PS3 you can do a data trasnfer onto the Slim via an eathernet cable. I bought a 250gb slim on Friday and im loving it, its so much quiter than my Phatty
