Firmware 4.20 allows you to listen to Blu-Rays in 7.1

And it also fixed the hissing background noise.

The headset sounds amazing, and sound wh*ring is on another level

I had them and quickly got rid of them, the mic was very temperamental on whether it would pick anything up. The sound... sure the surround was ok but it was nothing to write home about and not to mention the blue LED in the end of the mic is just there! glaring at you and you can't get away from it!. I ended up selling them on and picked up some Sharkoon XTatic Digitals with proper 5.1 Surround, all the channels are adjustable, the mic is fully adjustable as in sensitivity and position, they sound a feel a million times better yet they were only £20 more.

Wait, you got a charging cable with your headset?

I didn't with mine, and all it says in the contents description on the box is :

Wireless Stereo Headset

Wireless Adapter

Instuction Manual

.........

I haz no charging cable with mines.

This headset is plug and play at its finest, as soon as you pop the wireless dongle into the PS3 and switch on the head set, it is ready to go pretty much in 3 seconds flat.

The same goes with using it on your PC/Laptop, it works flawlessly with Skype as well.

I wouldn't say its "true" 7.1 then again how could it truly be seeing as the sounds are being produced so close to your ears, but it still is a very awesome bit of kit for the all round PS3 and PC use! i think £68 is pretty good as well.

the sounds produced by the PS3 headset = awesome,, each sound is distinguishable, you have a really rich and full throttle sound.

Cheers for all feedback guys much appreciated ive finally bitten the bullet and orderd these tonight for £68 on amazon carnt wait to get them and play some my games at night blasting out as just picked mass effect 3 up for £15 from argos gonna play when my headphones come

I know I'm a little late responding and the Official Headset has already been purchased but to correct the Negatives above:

• Headset is not RF wireless. So theres no chance of any interference from other wireless devices such as Wireless Router which has actually been a reported issue although I never had it myself. The lead is also plenty long enough that you can walk around a large room without any problem, it also has the inline remote where you control each channels volume, master volume and mute, mic volume and mute and voice volume.  ( Bit silly compairing Wireless to Wired, price wise ) Not really when the Headset itself and the features the lead enables you to have are far better in every way.
• Big digital controll box, thats but ugly. Which gives much better features and holds the High End Amp for far better sound, you can plug 2 headsets into it for co-op multiplayer, movies, music etc, it's also not Big and But Ugly, it's 2cm thick, by 6 cm wide and 12 cm long.... the same size as laying 2 iPhone 4s's ontop of eachother, it also hides very easily out of sight, laying flat or on it's side.
• No PS3 firmware features. None are needed, it's wired so no battery indicator needed, it's Real 5.1 surround with 8 speakers so no Virtual Surround Mode indicator needed. All other features and more are controlled through the inline remote.
