About PS2 games on PS3

Ok i had this PS2 slim which was working but the PS2 fell and the disc drive broke. So I got a PS3 like 2 years ago, the slim, and I know i cant play PS2 games but is it just on DISC? Will PS2 games work on the store? I don't mind buying them again, creating an internal memory card and start over, but if one of my games come like Wipeout Fusion (Best Wipeout game ever) will it be playable?

PS2 games on the store have an emulation wrapper. Yes, they will work on your PS3.

If your PS2 games are not on the PS Store (have not been reworked to PS3), then just look around for a 2nd hand PS2 - that's the best bet.
Then your memory cards will still work, and you know everything will be 100% compatible.
