Thanks Matthawes, but I'm affraid I read through what I can but it is all jargon to me. I have a Samsung TV I bought from Curry's 3 years ago. Now there is a large dark patch on the screen. have no idea how it got there, it is somekind of fault with the TV which has happened over time. When I spend £1000 on a TV I would expect it to last longer.
I will now buy by TVs in Sony Shop or John Lewis as they give 5 years warranty at no extra cost.
Do I just have to except that I will have to buy a new TV or is there someway I can replace my current TV without financial loss?

Just an update if anyone is interested,
I replaced the laser & deck in my 40gig back in January (Details way back in this thread). It was a 'White Clip' Chinese refurb and I had concerns about how long it would last, but it's still going. Got the YLOD last week, but now fixed thanks to Gilksy videos.
Dissapointed that this thread is still going and people experiencing problems. That's 2 major failures in 3 years I've had. I've also got a year old slim, can only hope this fares better reliability wise.
EDIT: Just noticed this has posted as my second PSN ID. posted as JackHall2003 back in January.

I own the original 60gb PS3 which has worked faultless for 3 months until last night :-(
Issues; in the middle of a race on gran turismo 5 I heard the drive trying to read the disc several times, at the end of the race the system crashed, now it takes in the disc but appears to not be spinning the disc and/or not reading the disc, restore file system had no effect.
Any additional thoughts on the problem are welcome
I am currently on my second blu-ray drive, the first time I replaced the whole blu-ray drive with a second hand working item off eBay, because it was cheap and I have a degree in electrical engineering (so I think I am more than qualified to repair it myself)
This time I want it to last longer and so I am looking to replace the internal parts of the blu-ray drive or replace the whole blu-ray drive with a new or refurbished item.
My problem is this apart from eBay I cannot find a supplier that is reasonable on price
Does anyone know a UK supplier that I can buy the KEM-400AAA/KES-400AAA internals or whole blu-ray drive from? That will not charge the earth for what is essentially £3.50 of components?

Hi KingKarlos93! I am very sorry to hear about your problem as I know it can be very frustrating!!
I thought I'd share with you how I fixed my problem. I bought this excellent repair kit and to be honest with you was the best investment I made. I first took it to a repair shop and they wanted to charge an arm and a leg!! so i decided to do some research as to how to fix it myself, what did i really have to lose when it was already broken?, so anyway I won't bore you with my story and get to the point! lol ... here is the link to the kit i bought I hope it helps. Good luck!! http://491a48-am80wmmil0vtg4sfp9h.hop.clickbank.ne
