Unless it's possible to boot into a live-CD environment on the ps3, I guess the easiest way to do that is to remove the HDD, toss it into a PC, mount the linux partition and remove the password. I don't know how YDL stores the password, but I'd think it's /etc/passwd (and shadow) as most other linux distributions.

I don't think the ps3 encrypt the linux partition, but if it does things get trickier.

Re: Any one know how to crack the YDL User Name and Password?

Perhaps it would work similar to a PC (opening the case, taking out the clock battery and pressing a few little buttons) But I'd have no idea where they'd be in the PS3.

That would be a bios password, it's something way different.

Btw, the username is normally plain text in the passwd file, so it's not a huge obstacle to overcome if it's forgotten. :smileyhappy:

Re: Any one know how to crack the YDL User Name and Password?

Thanx for your help peeps. I'm not up for ripping my HDD to shreds for it. I'd rather just reinstall the OS. There's nothing on there ne way. I installed it, realised I had no idea how to fix the WiFi and forgot about it...that was until I found the fix for it two days ago.
