Domn't suppose you know if you can still use DMZ with the home hub 3 do you?

Don't know as I replaced my hub with a Netgear router after experiencing some problems with it.

Oh really? What problems were you getting?

Re: Anyone on BT here?

Constant disconnections every few minutes. This was a few years ago though, I hear the newer hubs are much more reliable.

Re: Anyone on BT here?

Hmm. Only other router I tried was a Thompson I got with O2 and GTAIV would lose connection every few seconds.
I've used a Netgear for about 7 years but it's only a G router. 'N' would be better especially with my wireless laptops. I'd also probably have my home hub wired into the console as it looks nice and matches the rest of my stuff.

BT don't throttle if you're on the unlimited option. I believe they still throttle P2P, but with anything else you should be fine.

Yes they will throttle you on an unlimited option if you exceed the 'fair usage' limit.

The fair usage limit it huge though I think, like top 1% or something they say

Re: Anyone on BT here?

I'm probably going to be downloading no more than 20GB a month, if that, but will still take Unlimited just to be on the safe side. Are you saying I'll get the same speed day and night then?

Re: Anyone on BT here?

BT removed the fair usage limit several months ago. It used to be 100gb before they upped it to 300gb. They scrapped the 300gb limit around April time so you can download as much as you want now without restrictions.

Re: Anyone on BT here?

Yes but can I? Reading from other peoples opinions, even those who download hardly anything get slow speeds in the evenings.

Foofan73 - is 1.3mb the fastest you can get on your line anyway?

Yup

My local exchange is 'up to 16meg' but if I put my phone number into their site BT say I should expect up to 13.5meg

So the 12-12.5meg I'm currently getting (constantly) is about right considering I'm over a mile from the exchange

Unless I'm downloading a really popular PS3 Demo I normally get the same 1Mb per second download rate on the PS3 which I get on the PC

Re: Anyone on BT here?

Cool. I think if you're a heavy user then BT are going to slow you down. This is from what I've read online.

It will mean I'm paying a bit more per month, like £3 - £4 more, but this way I don't have to worry about the 30GB peak time limit per month I have now, and I could do with a more up to date router. BT also give you free wireless when you're out and about too which is good.

I just don't want to sign up for 18 months and then get really low speeds in the evening.
