First EA started this, and now it seems Sony are jumping on the bandwagon.

I personally think this is unfair! It kills off pre-owned games, I personally like to gain a bargain and if I can save a bit of bob getting a pre-owned game and have the compatibility online. Now there taking this from us -.- also kills the re-sale value if you have completed the game and want to trade in towards anything else..

Whats are your guys views on this? I would personally be dissapointed if more publishers jumped on the bandwagon..

Yeah I agree its ridiculous. Considering the price of some pre-owned games compared to trade in value, its pretty much an exploitation of our hobby by making you fork over more to enjoy the whole experience, this combined with "EXCLUSIVEZZZZ DLC" ,which is already on the disc, and you must pay for it, are two things that ***** me off.

But surely once the consumer becomes aware of this, game retailers will not be able to charge the same price for these preowned games as they once did.

If consumers continue to buy these games preowned at high prices knowing the online element requires additional payment then more fool them.

exactly, in most cases the difference between the new and 2nd hand games will be less than the price of the online pass. 

Say for example the online pass is 7.99 as most appear to be around that, and you can get a new copy of the game for say £20, they'd have to sell the game for less than 12 pounds to be worth it at all, and i'd be more than willing to spend maybe the pound or so you may save in getting a new copy that mostly likely has no defects. 

2nd game games would have to drop to around, in this example, £6 - 8 to really sway buyers into going 2nd hand.

It sucks.

But I hardly ever play online and the games I really do want are the games I buy new at launch so I guess it won't affect me that much.
