I still have my Atari 2600 (with wooden fascia) with loads of games and controllers but I would never sell it.

That console was released 13 years before i was even born lol

You missed out then lol. Probably the greatest console ever released. Defender and Missile Command on that were brilliant. I had hours of fun playing them and mine is all boxed up at the bottom of a wardrobe, as far as I know it still works but I doubt it would be compatible with new TV's.

Check out Cash Generator website. This years I have bought a silver slim PS2 for £15 from there as well as a rare fully boxed Resident Evil 4 GameCube console.

GameCube £17 http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/game-cube/gamecube-console-purple-ng6168

PS2 slim £24 http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/ps2/sony-ps2-slimline-console-ry2920

What delivery like with Cash Generator? isit super quick like shopto or awfully slow like zavvi?

I picked the PS2 up from store (used the collect service) the gamecube was sent via yodal courier to about 2 days after I ordered.

To be honest I'm not sure but internet is the best place. Course places like Ebay are a good place to scout but seeing a picture is 1 thing getting the thing could be quite different. I'm sure there's a specilist website or infomation on a local branch.

Also I found in the local newpaper if you have a section that's a selling items place. They should have a gaming section that people fill up with alot of stuff like PS2/ Xbox with games ( E.G  Old ps2 with 5 games 1 controller and charge cable £80 ono. Call this number **********)

I'm currently looking to pick up a old PS2 and hopefully get my hands on TimeSplitters 1,2 and Future Perfect. I've budget myself around £120 for the lot.

Good luck in the hunt mate.

PS2 £20-£30 Timesplitters £2 Timesplitters 2 £2 Future Perfect 49p At first I pm'd you to quickly grab a bargain, but well and truely you can this lot for £30 or £40 Max, save yourself ₤80-₤90.

Re: Buying Retro Consoles?

I wouldn't call last gen exactly retro :smileyhappy:

Cash converters/generators or wherever is probably a better bet than ebay as you have more comeback to a place like that rather than some bloke on ebay, having that little bit of peace of mind is worth the £5 or so you might save.

Re: Buying Retro Consoles?

[ Edited ]

As a buyer of retro consoles (And those aren't retro, just saying) I'd advise car boot sales, gumtree and eBay.

I've bought many consoles from eBay, most in good nick. Many games too and I've never had one which didn't work so that's enough for me.

Car boot sales I've had great finds, bought a SEGA Master System with games for £2, an Atari Lynx for 50p, SEGA 32x extension for a MegaDrive for £4 etc.

Gumtree is good because you get to go round to where it is and if it's in bad condition then you just turn it down.

But for a GameCube or PS2 I wouldn't be worried about buying one of eBay if I'm honest.

You can still buy brand new ones:

http://www.play-asia.com/PlayStation2_Console_Satin_Silver_120V_US_NTSC_Version_Damage_Bo/paOS-13-71...

Not that I'd spend that money on those consoles now, especially since I've got my lovely spice orange GameCube and Midnight Blue PS2 both imported from Japan.

EDIT: Also, I'm 20 and I play consoles that were released waaaaaaay before I was born.

I don't obsess over it, not someone who sits inside all day and looks up old games to play I just pick them up when I'm out and about sometimes and give them a go.
