mines in a cupboard so during a game you just here a great WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRR for about 5 minutes. its got holes front and back of the "cupboard shelf" but ps3 seems to hate it there, not sure what to do apart from stick it in a ice box

strange only happened after i got the ps3 replaced after the hard drive decided to fall out it was quite as hell before, perhaps before the fan was broken, thats why it was so quiet and thus the hard drive died.

I bet £50 you've been playing gta 4 with it when you noticed?

I don't think it's going to kill your console anyway.

Its defininatly the hot weather, as mines started doing it in the last few days, last week it wasnt to bad but this week because of the hot weather its making them louder. I just made a topic about mine actually

I would only start to worry if....

you dont hear any fan noise at all.

you get freezing happening in pretty much every game, all the time.

Where is your PS3 placed?  Don't put it in a confined space, or have loads of things around it.  It needs room to breathe!  I used to have mine in a tv cabinet but used to get really hot. So it's now out in the open with a small cloth over the top to prevent dust, not covering air vents tho. Never known the fan to increase in speed at all even on GTA.

mines doing this to, even on the xmb page at least i know the fan is working!

If you don`t hear the fan then start to worry .
