Can I get my own console fixed from Sony?

[ Edited ]

My release 60GB has given up the ghost, I see on previous threads  Sony will send you a remanufactured console for £134.

But  has anyone actually had there own console fixed and sent back.

no it wont happen and to be honest for an extra £20 u can buy a brand new slim with 12 months warranty instead of a refurb and 3 months from sony

Re: Can I get my own console fixed from Sony?

I took my 60GB model back to the vendor, even though it was out of warranty and I paid for an out of warranty repair.  Which here was $375 New Zealand currency.  I got it back with a 3 month warranty and after the 3 months it stopped reading game discs and DVDs.  So I went and bought a new one lol.

Consequently my 60GB started reading game discs again a month later, just randomly out of the blue.

I agree with the last post, safer to invest in a new one, with a fresh warranty :smileyhappy:

Re: Can I get my own console fixed from Sony?

I asked them this exact question on my first refurb.  I said that I was prepared to wait if they would send my machine back refurbished instead of some random one.

The answer I got back made sense - 'Without running their various diagnostics yadda yadda yadda mine may be irreparable so will then be broken down to its components to use to repair other faulty units'

Whether that's true or not I couldn't say but it does seem logical
