Can I watch Region 1 Blu-rays on a uk ps3 ( 250g slim ) as there is a few films I want that you can only get Region 1

Short answer is Nope

Long answer is that Dvd's Blu rays are reigon locked like DLC but not games

You cant watch Region 1 DVDs on a UK PS3.

As for Region A Blu-rays it depends on the movie, a lot of Blu-rays are multi regional.

What movies is it you want to buy?

If the movies are ONLY available in region one, then I'd suggest some software like DVD decrypter to rebuild the disc without region restrictions. Bit of a pain, but it works!

you shouldn't be telling someone to use software that bypasses the encryption of a film or game. especially when sony owns a major hollywood film studio. whether making back up copies for yourself or not, it's something you shouldn't tell someone to do,  just because you might use the software.

Bluray are A, B and C

If you want to purchase USA (A) Bluray and are unsure if they will play on a UK/EUR PS3, then I suggest you check out www.movietyme.com. All Region A Blurays they sell are tested for compatibility with UK/EUR importers... Keeps me happy and pretty sure many other importers of USA Bluray titles.
