I prefer L3 for sprint but for those who don't most games allow you to set up your controller for how you want it.In COD it is a pain in the donkey and I often get a pain in my left wrist from constantly sprinting using the L3 , however BF3 seems to have recognised this issue and all you have to do is press it once and you will sprint until you stop or in my case stopped ![]()

I like click L3 for sprint. My problem which lead to excess ware, was that I didn't realize I only had to click to sprint, but I was holding down L3 while sprinting. I'd buy a $100 DS3 if it were made from metal parts, and had a 5-year warrenty.

i would like fully customizeable buttons to be honest, clicking l3 to sprint is kinda natural to me now, but can be annoying at times.
Fully customizeable i think is one area where games companys can add extra to the games... certainly the ability to fully customize the buttons to your own tastes would be huge... there are no games that would not benefit from this option.

I'd rather not use L3 and R3 for anything at all.
I'd much rather have another trigger or button.

In cod it is the same thing??? all you do is press the stick down once to sprint and you will keep sprinting untill you stop, you don't have to hold the stick down if thats what you mean..... it works the exact same way as bf3.... infact everygame i have played that uses L3 to sprint uses this system.

Kaleef : the problem is not so much as not knowing what the buttons do or how they work, its just that in the heat of battle when you want to move and the L3 or R3 button gets pushed and you end up trying to knife some one or something else you did not want to do.
AND NO its not just a matter of being less heavy handed, its a matter of having control over , well, the controls.
Fully customisable buttons should be the norm and not a bonus!!

@Kencanvey I am not disputing the option for fully customisable controls should be in all games as i am a huge and long time believer that in this day and age all games should come with fully customisable controls especially when i was unable to play the remakes of Beyond good and evil, splintercell trilogy (now been resolved) and silent hill homecoming amongst other.
My post was aimed at irishviper and saying that the L3 button works the same in COD as it does in BF3.. you only need to click in once to run and not hold it in (if that what he was implying). so i did not get how the bf3 way was any different from the cod way.
Also for saying in the heat of battle the L3 or R3 button could get pushed by mistake, this is not only secluded to these two buttons as any button could get pushed by mistake..... i am always throwing grenades in BF3 when trying to spot someone for the team (pressing select)...

Hi KALEEF ![]()
Yep right with you there on the grenade throwing while spotting, I had not thought of that one too!!!
Maybe the controllers need to be physicaly reconfigurable, maybe Lego could step in here and give us a kit to snap together in our own way!!! (at least then if your the sort of person who uses the wall to reconfige the controller you can put it back together again).
Well ordered some icro switches and watched a coule of youtube how to's so I think I will be moving the L3 and R3 buttons else where!!! (hmmm but what to do about the spotting, I suppose just don't spot!!! )
