yo!
I spotted that PS3's are getting cheaper these days and was considering taking the plundge and getting one after my exams in may.
i got a few questions i'd like unput from current owners for...
Any point in getting the PS3 slim vs the origional model?
how much hard disk space is "sufficient"?
logistically would buying a preowned PS3 be problematic?
thoughts?

Any point in getting the PS3 slim vs the origional model? They only make the slim now 160GB and 320GB
how much hard disk space is "sufficient"?depnds on what you plan to download you can always change the HDD at a latter date if it is too small
logistically would buying a preowned PS3 be problematic?I always buy new as you never know how the previous owner has treated it.
Well worth an investment.

Any point in getting the PS3 slim vs the original model? Theth slims have bigger hard drives, they are more energy efficient, they are quieter and don't suffer with the dreaded YLOD as much as the older consoles. However you will lose PS2 playabillity that the old 60gb PS3's had. With the prices of slim PS3's being about £170 it's alot better to get one of them for that price than getting a older PS3 for about £90
how much hard disk space is "sufficient"? Depends, I have a 160gb PS3, I have had it since january and I have 100gb free. If you were to use it to store 100's of CD's and DVD's then that may be an issue. As the other guy said, you can always swap them with laptop hard drives.
logistically would buying a preowned PS3 be problematic? Yes, I am speaking from experience. I bought a 60gb PS3 from ebay for about £90. 2 and a half weeks later it suffered the YLOD, I had to spend £50 on getting it fixed by a 3rd party. You never know what the console's been treated like, unfortunately older PS3's are like a ticking time bomb, you never know what will happen to it.

Logistically buying anything from ebay is a risk.
I have had 2 used ps3's which i bought both from Game but i got extended an warranty with each of them.
When my first used ps3 died i sent it of to who ever game have that asses broken ps3's & got 75% of the cost of my ps3 back.
And the second used ps3 i'm am still using now with the same assurance that if it dies it will either get repaired or i will get most of my money towards another ps3.

Slim is what's sold new in shops nowadays. Best stick with New as preowned can be problematic.
You can buy the cheapest PS3 and upgrade the HDD to 1TB if you like for £76.00.
As for thoughts, only time will tell if you made the right choices ![]()

I have a pre-owned 80Gb.
It's still going after 2 years, and the previous owner hadn't got it banned.
Maybe I'm just lucky.
