Control for HDMI

Hello everyone.

I have a PS3 Slim, on System Settings I have turned on Control for HDMI.

My PS3 Slim is connected via HDMI cable to my Sony Bravia television (model KDL-40D3500/3400 to be exact).

On my television settings I have turned HDMI Control on.

The problem which I have is that the Control for HDMI function altogether doesn't seem to work. This is because my TV can't seem to detect and link itself to the PS3 for HDMI Control.

How can I fix this issue? Or am I doing something wrong?

Please excuse me if this isn't the correct section of the forums to be posting such a topic.

Thanks in advance :smileyhappy:

Re: Control for HDMI

On my Toshiba, I was surprised to find that the Toshiba Link system worked a treat when I turned the HDMI control on!

But I did have to turn the option on in the TV menu as well as the control option on the PS3. SO I'd check to make sure the option is in the TV menus first.

If you are sure everything is on, but it still doesn't work then be aware that some TV's aren't compatible even with all the options in place.

Lastly, make sure your TV is connected directly to the PS3 without going through an AV receiver to test, and try different HDMI ports - maybe not all of them are control compatible?

Just a few thoughts.

Re: Control for HDMI

This happens sometimes with me and my Bravia....

Only way i can fix it is by, first of all Turning off Control for HDMI on the PS3.

Then Turning off the PS3, and using the Reset Display Settings Feature, where you hold the power button for about 5 seconds and it bleeps.

This resets the Display settings, and it tells me a HDMI has been found, do you want to use it etc....then i let it do its thing.

Turn Control for HDMI back on again....and that seems to fix it.

But i've only had these issues with Automatic Update (PS+ Feature) if i turn the TV on to the PS3 while it is doing, usually it disables the Control For HDMI completely....

If your TV supports HDMI-CEC and you've got a slim PS3 you can control it with your TV remote.

Re: Control for HDMI

hey hey

silly question but what are you actually trying to do ?

my toshiba has options for HDMI control. I hated switching the ps3 off as it always switched the tellybox off simultaneously.  then i discovered this is optional.

It can :

PS3 [off] + TV [off]  : PS Button wakes both and the tv switches to PS3 channel [Auto Power on]

PS3 [off] +TV [on] : Auto switch to PS3 if the ps3 wakes [pretty standard on most tv's anyway]

PS3 [on] + TV [on} : Switching off PS3 or Tv puts both into standby. [Autostandby]

The remote can control the XMB using the TV remote's wheel thingy and use limited options when watching a blu ray.  However;  I did have to search the buttons on the TV remote to see what I could and couldnt do as there is no obvious X, Triangle, Square of Circle buttons (ofc)

Check through your tellyboxes HDMI control options [bravia sync ?]  and insure that both the PS3 and TV have the "link" set to [on]

Re: Control for HDMI

Well... I'm trying to get the HDMI synchronisation between my TV and PS3.

There is no 'Bravia Sync' option on my TV remote control.

I phoned Sony and they concluded that my HDMI cable was corrupted. Is that even possible considering that I play on my PS3 via a HDMI cable? I even tried a different HDMI (of the same model, mind you) and the problem remained.

I can't understand and don't believe that a TV has the option of 'HDMI Control' but yet it can't actually do HDMI control. No way.

Basically when you power up your PS3 it will turn on your TV and switch to the appropriate HDMI channel, or so it does with our Sammy plasma in the bedroom, the LG LCD in the living room may as well be connected to a brick as it does nothing when you turn the PS3 on.

Re: Control for HDMI

I very much respect your post, but this is telling me what I've already done; I've linked my TV via HDMI to my PS3 and have turned the HDMI Control on for both systems.

I don't know if this matters at all, but the part of my HDMI cable which is connected to the TV is fitted in an adapter. Should that cause any problems?
