Re: Does the new VAT make our games dearer?

There was this business group that did a survey of store managers asking if they'd use the VAT increase to mask an extra increase in prices on top of the VAT increase and most, if not all of them said they would so expect prices to increase considerably I'd say.

It may make a marginal increase, though when the VAT dropped for that brief period I never noticed them getting any cheaper.

My Job is supporting EPOS Systems in Retail Shops.

When the VAT Price dropped, 9/10 of the Customer kept the prices the same.

The cost of relabeling everything back up, time and effort never warranted the cost to do so.

with the VAT price increasing to 20% adds a 2.1739% ontop of its current retail price.

People will not just increase the prices by this.

Actually a lot of suppliers have pushed the prices up higher, so retailers have to increase more as well.

And other retail shops have just increased prices as much as 3 - 5%

We don’t actually have any game shops onboard, but the overall retail is like this, i don’t see why Game shop would not follow suit.

Going my this MCV article they've only gone up by a pound, although I didn't say it in this thread the other where VAT was mentioned I said at most that's what they'd go up by on average

IN what world are you living in?

Sure as hell aint the same world as everyone else thats for sure!

-------------------

The VAT increase should be taken as a 2,5% pay decrease for everyone... Where everyone pays...

The so called government those just doesn't realise that by increasing VAT that the only thing they will do is make people spend less...

At least Labour tried to get the economy going again instead of stalling it like this current bunch of ***** in power...

In 2 years time everyone will be begging Labour to be back in power!

Re: Does the new VAT make our games dearer?

Just pre-order all the games for the year now so they can honour that price.

Somehow I doubt it   They're the reason we're in this mess.

Anyway, the VAT we have now is bringing us more into line with other EU states, it's not as if what Osborne has done is obscene.

Re: Does the new VAT make our games dearer?

we have stupid prices now, instead of the being rounded to the nearest £ they are now £---.35, e.g. Kinect is now £134.13 or something silly :smileyindifferent:

Indeed James.

No doubt he indulges in any obscene behaviour behind closed (mansion) doors.

not to start a politics debate but i do believe that it's the banks fault, not labours that we're in this mess.

that may not work thought, the goverment has said that untill 1st feb all retailers have to put the vat on, but if labels don't show the correct price its ok, in other words for the next month its the price the POS says, not the shelf.

I spent extra time in my placce of work on monday night helping to adjust the prices, and putting out a sign saying about the labels
