Hmm, some bad replies here.

If you want to replace the HDD you need a 2.5 inch SATA upto 500gb with a maximum thickness of 9mm as the newer large size won't fit (750gb and 1TB). Don't bother with 20gb or 50gb, go straight for a 120gb minimum from eBay for less than $40 and what has been said about needing to format first isn't true. The PS3 will prompt you to format the HDD after inserting it and starting up anyway.

yes i really need to replace the HDD i dunno it just dosent works the ps3 just freezes it wont even start the green light turns on but no image and i said that i need a new HDD because it sayed that the datat was currupted i fixed the problem but then the demos freeze and games and then no image i even formated the the ps3 and fixed the system files and HDD is fkd up so i only had the ps3 for 8 months oh i last detail if this works i have a ps3 slim 160 gb

i buyed the hdd in best buy 250 gb 50 dollars thanks for the sugestion guys
