Dust514: Pay for beta but still have NAD?

Is this right? ethical? Does it strip away the consumers right to have revews on paid for products?

The beta is free.

Micro tranactions Will pay for Extra bonus content during the beta. You don't have to buy it. The beta will remain free to play.

You Had a chance to get access code for the beta Via PS Home. ( lots of adverts )

If people want to pay to get more out of the beta. Then why should the content be blocked out from the store system for those users.

Those who allready have the beta Pay the exact same price. The beta Is not included in the add on price. Its free. All you had to do was actualy read the product discription. You also buy more exclusive gear, the cheat code to level up quicker and 400 credits to get other gear. (Again all in the public text on the store)

Also all purchase values will carry over to the final product as they are on your PSN account details but the content you can get in final version may vary but not in value. ( Again in the Text on the store. nothing is lost as the Full release will unlock the content to the same value.)

It is a MMO after all and they will need some one to pay the server costs when it goes public. This will be those who want more from the title and they will subsurdise those who play fror free. by Pre paying using the store system.

( Again all public released info)

The exact same system keeps DCU free to play online going...

The beta is still closed and under NAD NDA which you have to sign the T&Cs and agree to before you play it.

You can't agree to something then completely ignore it.

But the codes are free and are given out or obtained from PS Home etc, I just got the weekend access and I would never pay for a beta.

What you do pay for is the 'Merc Pack' on the store which includes weapons, armour, boosters and in-game currency. This in turn gives you access to all the remaining beta tests as well. Well it has to else what good would it be if you wasn't able to use your new equipment :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Dust514: Pay for beta but still have NAD?

So if i want to play this im better of trying to get a code from ps home? also i get what your saying because buying a pack guarantees you full access to the beta which is why many will take that option but thats all it is an option. im not willing to pay for the beta as i might not like it and thats money wasted but to alot of people this will be good value.

Can you still get codes from PS Home?

I can download Home, get a code, then delete Home again. :smileyvery-happy:

Downloading home is not the problem.

Its the Time it takes to reserve 3GB HDD space. then download your profile, then download the Dust space and then the time it takes to delete the 3GB when you remove it.

Thats the big pain the backside just to find out if the NPC recruiter is still in the dust 514 space.

while i agree with how f2p mmos use micro transactions to pay for servers and such, but i do not agree with a developer asking for money while the game is in the beta testing phase,i cant recall any beta i have took part in releasing paid for dlc while still being in the testing phase... this just reeks of greed to me..

also in the small print it states anything you purchase can be changed and altered on full release and there is no chance of a refund if you feel they have changed what you bought for something you dont want.....  also im bettting if this does make them money,i can see other devs following suit by releasing a so called beta with ways to milk you for cash...

if its a full working product then by all means release dlc/microtransactions,but a beta that is glitchy/laggy with alot of features missing then no way should they expect any money.

were already saving them money by testing their product for free..

Yep the dust beta still Remains 100% free to play. If you can get access.

The NPC recruiter is still on PS Home. but after Resetting up Home (and wasting 3GB of HDD space) again. It crashed when Talking to the NPC. So pass to if its still giving out codes

that may be,but my point still stands...

isnt the purpose of a beta supposed to be for testing to help improve the final product?

as far as im concerned people are doing them a favour by testing their product with their time and for free and they thank everyone by trying to milk money from them...

a beta shouldn't be used as a way of making money, releasing dlc for a game that isnt even finished is greed in my opinion..

while unlikely, the game could be a totall flop and end up scrapped before its release and with the no refund disclaimer you have no chance of getting your money back..

this so called beta appears to have been released to make money instead of actual testing, which is proven by the release of dlc.(which had to be planned well before the beta went live)

this is just a marketing ploy disguised as a beta in my opinion, and if successful i expect a lot more devs to follow suit.

im pretty sure if you sony beta testers where getting sent unfinished beta code that was designed to get money from your pocket you would soon tell sony to stick it where the sun dont shine..

*end rant*
