Hi there, 

I have a fat 60gb ps3, and it just crashes constantly. On launching a game it will just go black and never come out of it, as well as just freezing between loading screens with the only solution being turning it off.

I have tried different hard drives in there, and I just had the disc drive repaired, so I know neither of those are the problem (for the record the freezes also occur on PSN games, so I know it's not the disc drive). Anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be?

It's knackered, buy a new one.

That sounds like it's on it's way out. Backup all your data and get a new one.

For a 60gb, I'd try Ebay for a Sony Reconditioned one - They go through regularly or go to Game/Gamestation. About £130 now with a warranty.

hmmm thanks for the info, but for that much money, I might as well send it off to sony themselves and get them to fix it. I believe that's about £130 if I recall.

And for about another £30 or so you could buy a brand new slim, not hard to work out the best deal is it?

Sony won't fix it though, they will send you out a refurb with a 3 month warranty.
