ok so i take 5 games into gamestation, i normally use Ebay but could be arsed sticking them in auction,  so i go in and 1 out of the 5 cant be traded in due to it being the american version (fair enough)

so he offers me £24 for 4 games

Gran turismo 5

tiger woods 12

NFS hot pursuit

nba 12

non of which iv played in a while but i knew i could get more from ebay so told him and proceeded to walk out the shop, he stopped me and said hell have a look at what he can do, after a few minutes of typing away in the cpu he comes back to me with an offer of £34

how can they magic another £10 out of a deal?

i accepted it as i could then walk away with the game i wanted to buy with the money either from ebay or instore

but how can they just add more on the offer?  and i dont think any of these games are in short supply either as they are old

Even so, he should have been offered £34 to begin with. Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

A few things spring to mind. Firstly, the £10 extra deal, i dunno if thats still on, but if it is, he may not have added that to the original value. Also, if you have a CEX nearby, he may have looked at how much they offered for each game, and they beat it by £1. I know they dont normally do this unless you ask them to, but he may have done it

no we have no CEX around, we used to have a GAME but it closed last year

it was only when i said i could get more from ebay that he said he'd look into it but quoting ebay before has never made them up their offer i was just genuinely going home to stick them on so wasnt trying anything on with them lol

just seems weird how he could literally just add £10 to the offer but ow well just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this before

PS nearest Game store/trade in area is 15 miles away so not exactly competition

Not sure what he did, the only promo with trade-ins are when you trade in a console and 3 games, and also trading a specific game towards another promotion i.e. points. I can only think that he has used a promo or matched a random place. The trade-ins aren't 'fixed', he's just done something that isn't meant to done.
Do you have a HMV near the store?
