Re: Good Split Screen Multi-Player Games

The Web Site Co-Optimus is your Friend:

http://www.co-optimus.com/system/2/playstation-3.html

Here's the list of Games sorted by Offline Players:http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?id=2&sort=offline&direction=ASC

Really good site, i am a big fan of the Traditional Couch Co-Op (as well as LAN and System Link - 2 Consoles, 2 Tv's etc.) so that Site is perfect to know if a game has Co-Op and what type it is (Campaign and whatnot).

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could mention some decent local 4 player games. I miss those days of playing with people in the same room, instead of some random jerk on the internet - wheres the exciting atmosphere in that??

I mean games like the classic N64 Goldeneye, Bomberman, Crash Team Racing, Timesplitters - all classics with great 4 player split screen action. I have a few games like:

I asked the very same question here and got some very useful replies.

I'd say definietly get Bomberman Ultra, you can't fail with that.

Here's what won through in the end:

Dead Nation got a fair bit of love early on even if only two players.

Bomberman was the most popular, as we had a fifth person turn up so we had two DS3s, two Sixaxis and the Navigator so all five of us could play (because you have to press triangle to join the trick was to get the Navigator player to start the game then they didn't need to press anything other than X).

We gave Kung Fu Live a go but ditched it in favour of Rag Doll Kung Fu as more of us could play at once.

DJ Hero one and two were the party starters but again were limited to two turntables so that wasn't on too long but it did get the music games going.

Rockband 3 was a massive hit (even with my dodgy GHWT drums), i'm not sure how many times we played the Ghostbusters theme but i'm guessing it was a fair few!

The old faithful SingStar rounded off the day as that doesn't need any hand to eye coordination which is a good thing after a day of drinking. Not sure the neighbours agree though.

So don't forget to check out the PS Store for options as it delivered for me.

Rag Doll Kung Fu is pretty funny when there's a group of you.

Although TBH, a Wii with Mario Kart does the job superbly too.

Re: Good Split Screen Multi-Player Games

Thanks guys,

Some really useful suggestions. I like the sound of Bomberman Ultra, but has this been released on the UK PSN? Its says it has on wiki, but i have read some comments that suggest it has been withdrawn and I cant seem to find it either when searching....

Also the upcoming Twisted Metal - I havent ever played this franchise but I like the sound of it. Shall keep my eye on this one.

Still begging for a Timesplitters 4 though, shall make a separate thread on the forum to see if everyone else feels the same way.

Thanks again.

Back in the day when linking 2 PlayStations up together with 2 TVs back to back was some of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming. DOOM, Duke Nukem and Twisted Metal were the obvious choices. Even playing Twisted Metal split screen at my mates house was amazing, crazy fun :smileyvery-happy:

My PlayStation 3 will be complete in the next month with Twisted Metal (and SSX) finally coming out.

Just to wet your appetite :smileyhappy:
