Good game stores(NZ)

Where do you guys buy your games from and have you people from New Zealand heard about www.nzgameshop.com? It is a really good website for buying games and I highly recommend it. Where do you guys get your games from?

Re: Good game stores(NZ)

a courier is a courier no matter what company sells you the game, simply i can go down the road and get it sooner than if i ordered online.
im never overly concerned about price

Re: Good game stores(NZ)

If you preorder, you get it on the day of release — same day the normal stores would. No trip to the store required; just greet the courier at the door and take the package.

Re: Good game stores(NZ)

The amount of these threads by new-ish posters that plug NZG/OZG makes me slightly suspicious.

But I do agree that NZG are very good, games seem to get to NZ faster than they do to Aus (LOL AUSPOST), Mighty Ape are also very good.

Having said that, for big releases I often go to JBHifi on release day, cheap price +often get free DLC = happy Sidawg

Re: Good game stores(NZ)

In my case with Mighty Ape (I have over 100 orders through them now) I have a pretty good situation where the Courier Post courier knows my address, and identifies MA packages well enough that I used to have a spot where he knew to leave my packages... Since one went missing (I still suspect one of 'the stepsons' petrol sniffing mate's who is 'discouraged' from coming to our house nowadays... ) he knows to pop them through the window of our bathroom.

Occasionally I request a sig required delivery, so have to deal with that 9 out of 10 times if that happens, me going to the depot after work to sign for it, as the courier always comes around 1230, and unless it is a Saturday, we aren't home to sign for it.

I have used JB once... nothing wrong with their service, but it pays to allow at least another day for Post Haste to get the package to your door.... and then, they wouldn't drop it off with no-one home, so had to rearrange redelivery.

A lot of it can come down to what delivery service you request, or that they actually offer by default... I have had stuff come from Sony Au via Aussie Post and then NZ Post, and have had the postie actually fold the comic books to get them in the mail box. I ordered a book from Ballistic in Aus and had it come in the mail instead of paying more for courier, and the numb nuts postie put it exposed in my mailbox on a day when it was raining heavily... Fortunately the limited edition book itself was shrink wrapped, though the package was poked. Amazon and PlayAsia I've had mixed success with too...

I am dumbfounded that the cheapest $20 delivery service offered to get a book delivered to me by one company overseas results in damage to my packages, yet similar books have come to me from Mighty Ape with added cardboard packaging to prevent bending, waterproof courier bag, all at no cost to me...

Re: Good game stores(NZ)

my issue is with couriers
if i get it delivered to my home, they attempt delivery when im working, and they never redeliver on sat, even thu they are supposed to. i then need to travel 20mins to go pick it up in my time. auckland cbd couriers are the worse i have ever experienced, they just hate delivering to apartments because it takes to much time.

i can preorder and mighty ape can send it to me with plenty of time, but in my experience, i still have to do run around.
so i simple whip into jb on my way home.

i deal with couriers at work and they treat business customers alot better than private ones.

if i lived away from a jb then i would buy more online, but for me going into store is the easiest and fastest option. i never have a problem with their pricing :smileyhappy:
