Hello,

I was wondering if i can remove the hard drive from my WD My Book Mac edition 1TB external hard drive (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=250) and swap it with my ps3 40 gb hard drive? is it possible to do so??????????? if it isnt then how come???

I'm not quite sure. But maybe it's not possible to do that. Rumor says that only certain model and certain batch of wd hdd can be used as ps3 hdd.

Why does such a simple and clearly non-urgent query warrant such an hysterical title?

Buy a new hard drive. Hard drives are relatively cheap so there's no need to sacrifice your Macbook just to get a bigger hard drive in your Ps3.

short answer is no.....PS3 hardrives are 2.5 inches , the external you have is 3.5 ...so pulling it apart is fruitless (from what I have read from my 1 minute google)

Just use it as an external (as long as it is formatted /or has a partition that is FAT32....

If you want a new internal, as RandAPle4 says, buy one, they are pretty cheap now

In future, keep in mind that writing in caps (aka shouting) makes people want to punch you in the crotch, rather than help. Any 2.5in HDD should work, but don't go bigger than 500gb to avoid issues. They really don't cost that much: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=2.5+500gb&spos=3

Remember to do a back up before upgrading, because after you remove the HDD and put a new one in, anything that was on there will be un-recoverable.
