How does it exactly? I get to play online without concern of people using anything non official to ruin my games. How is that getting screwed over by Sony?
Closing the exploits that will always lead to piracy and cheating is a good thing for your average PS3 owner.
As for the topic, i guess PS3 security is no longer in tatters. And now we have to hear constant moaning about how that is a BAD thing....

Ive stripped all personal opinion and morality aside and put forth a simple question.
Given the PS3 security remains intact (homebrew signed can be run on OFW 3.55 and below).
Where is the "Circumvention" of the "copy-protection" mechanism?
Simply signing your own apps in no way removes the ability of the PS3 to detect and not play copies.
None of the information used to get the key or create the signing tools was "stolen" from Sony, none of it is copyright by Sony.
Circumvention, to "get around" to "avoid using/doing" to "bypass something".
If Sony's copy protection mechanism is active and preventing the playing of copies, I fail to see how anything is circumvented.
Please, if anybody has a decent explanation I would love to hear it.

DO YOU? As far as I am aware the games are still, right now, just as hacked as ever. Please, if somebody can correct me let me know.
Maybe getting screwed by Sony is being left with hacked lobbies for weeks because there was no client security in any of the games.

Yes, Closing exploits that "always" lead to piracy and cheating IS a good thing for your "average" PS3 user, nobody ever argued otherwise.

Um, you are aware that nothing done so far has un-hacked the tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) consoles that currently run pirate software?
You are aware that the new FW was stripped and decoded by hackers in days?
You know hackers are still going online with CFW?
Cheating is still (as far as I know) still rampant in online play?
Oh, the hackers are now bypassing PSN entirely with their own version that contains all the same content. No risk of a ban.
Oh, they now know how to unban consoles and get other legit console owners banned instead of them too.
I say, to be honest, that sounds like security in tatters to me.

I wouldn't know as I don't play online.
There have been MANY posts in this thread about hacked lobbies etc, obviously we require somebody to go on now and verify that all the hacking has stopped.
That's a bit hard, but at least see if they can see any with a quick search as I am led to believe it was fairly hard to NOT see it before.
