Help Choosing 3DTV for PS3

Sorry for the repost but i dont think anyone goes onto the PS3 media forums anymore.

So basically i have decided to upgrade my current 32" Samsung HDTV for a bigger (40-42") 3DTV.

The one appealing to me at the moment is-

I know there are better TV's out there but for my budget (£500-600) this seems to be one of the better TV's out there..

opinions?

Re: Help Choosing 3DTV for PS3

A couple of months ago I got a Panasonic plasma, had a similar budget and got it for £503 at the time, without active 3d glasses (universal glasses cost £20-30 ea)

3D was a bonus, because I mainly wanted a smart tv w/ youtube, ustream, dailymotion, iplayer, vimeo etc.

But now the price has gone upto £549 without glasses, great tv though.

Re: Help Choosing 3DTV for PS3

hi I bought a 42" Panasonic just before Christmas it cost I think £1300 yeah I know it's a lot but the picture is excellent (and will be better once I get it professionally calibrated) I'm not a big gamer the main reason I bought tv was to integrate with home cinema kit. I would defiantly recommend exspecially now as you can pick up my tv for around £700 probably closer to £600 if you shop around. oh and a deciding factory on my purchase was the fact the tv was given tv off 2011 in just about every poll including the What HI-FI magazine (bible)

Re: Help Choosing 3DTV for PS3

i was looking at the active 3DTV's and to my understanding they will have better quality 3D picture but due to the expensive set up cost was slightly put off.

Would getting a passive 3DTV such as the LG model above still be able to display 3D blu rays and 3D games such as uncharted 3 in 'noticeable' 3D?

Hard to look past Panasonic's 3D plasmas, get whatever one you can within your budget, all are good sets from the ST to the VT.

Re: Help Choosing 3DTV for PS3

I think it should, but I was only interested in a plasma, if you can get yourself down to currys/pcworld you could try as much as you like the different models.

Take a note of the prices and get it cheaper online if you can, funnily enough I did that with my tv and got it cheaper on amazon, now the same tv is cheaper in pcworld £499 compared to £550 at amazon.

That LG model in your original post is at pcworld for the same price, so you can road test that, when I got my tv I was a bit naive, don't expect the 3d to jump out like a 30ft cinema screen projected from behind, but the level of depth really did surprised me. The tv will also let you adjust the 3d level same like all 3d games,

On another note, a week or 2 ago I saw an elderly man with a walking stick wearing sunglasses, as I looked closer they were RealD cinema glasses he had on. I shouldn't laugh but it looked funny.

i have an LG 23 inch 3d monitor and it's passive. my pc and ps3 are both connected to it and 3d blue ray films and 3d games work with it no problem.
