How can i deactivate my PS3 now it has YLOD again?

My 60gb launch model got YLOD again last week. Now i have contimplated getting a new one but only if i can keep my game saves ect from my old HDD. Can i simply put my 60Gb HDD into a new console? Also how do i deactivate it so i won't lose my purchases as i have purchased alot of DLC for Dirt 3 and Mafia 2 ect.
