Re: How can i increase my Playstation 3 Internet Connection Speed?

One thing I would suggest before you buy/drill or whatever :smileyhappy: is to run a speed test from speedtest.net from your PS3 browser (I don't know if it works, but I can;t see why not) and then see if you can run a similar test in the kitchen with the PS3 wired in or alternatively from a laptop.... you may find it's your broadband speed, not the wireless.....
SPLITTERS!!

Re: How can i increase my Playstation 3 Internet Connection Speed?

man i have the same problem my router is downstairs as well , the xbox has something cool where you put like a mini router on the  back of the xbox i think the ps3 should get something like that so it will receive the signal better

but i agree with the others a ethernet cable is the best thing

Below is a post which i copied from the PS3 network forum - this did the trick for me! Invovles going into the routers software, but it worked superb for me - has been fine since also :smileyhappy:

You should keep switching between those channels till you get the best signal on one of them , after a long period you might have to switch them back again , I was using 1 then had to switch to 6 after about a year , it started just cutting out all the time and I only got like 40% signal strength . I now get 80% - 100% and my router is fairly far aswell XD . "

Re: How can i increase my Playstation 3 Internet Connection Speed?

I suggested changing channel on page 2 but no-one noticed me :smileysad:

As for how to do it your best bet is to go to the router maker's website and look up any instruction manuals which gain you access to the router's settings.

Your router should come with some software on a CD, One the software is installed you reach it on a web browser by putting in address something like this "http://192.168.1.1/" Then there will be various options, one of them will be changing the channel.

When i first got my PS3 it was fine, but over the last 6 months it kept signing me out, things took ages to download, and gaming was a little laggy. But since i changed the channel it is now perfect again. I think it depends on what other people are using for their channels in close by houses etc.

Hope this helps.

What he said, the best answer yet !! -

Change the transmission chanel on your router (to one hopefully that your neighbours AREN'T using) and you should see an increase in signal, mind you, 70% isn't that bad. :/

im currently at 70% signal strength, so with an ethernet cable, it should hopefully go to 95-100%, would this make my downloads super fast?
