How hard would it be to incoporate a temperature monitor into the XMB?

it would be handy to see how hot ur ps3 is running and given that some people play for hours on end, i feel would be an extremely useful feature.

I woudnt be surprised if there is already such a function built into the ps3.

Most modern PC have some sort of temp monitoring function.

You can either see this in teh bios or Download some software to see it,

It may/may not be usefull if sony let the information be accessable via the xmb.

I think it would be good if the PS3 gets to hot that it goes into an auto shutdown but quiting the game and shutting down safely that would be sweet. Or even better a message saying system is getting hot please save game and shut down for x minutes :Thumbs:

The PS3 already does this. This is why there are several levels of fan speeds.

When the maximum level of fan speeds are running and the temp is still climbing (because the vents are blocked with dust and crap, or being used in an enclosed space), then the PS3 will shut down to prevent thermal runaway.

The problem is it just shuts down regardless of what its doing, it would be good it if quits to xmb and then shuts down :Thumbs:

PS3 already does this. Its called YLOD and it costs u 130 a pop.

It only does everything.

My requests for SONY: 1) Integrate PlayStation3 and your 400 disc MEGACHANGER, Im way too lazy to switch game BDs, u could call it forexample MEGASTATION. 2) Build Specialized Fat-AiBO which has MEGASTATION in belly and two projectors as eyes for 3D projection in any given room of the house. You can call them PLAiBO.

This, I feel would be a seriously good idea.

Maybe we could have themes to download  that show  the system temperature in the background, the number could also change colour as the system gets hotter.

GREEN= Good

YELLOW= Getting hotter

RED= Too Hot
