im currently on my 6th ps3 since launch

first ones got yellow light of death(60gb)

second bluray drive failed (60gb refurb)

3rd blu ray drive failed again (60gb refurb)

4th bought a slim that then had crucial start up files corrupted by black ops

5th was a reurb slim that broke within 2 days the same crucial start up files corrupted by black ops (only game played on it)

6th going strong *touch wood* (refurb slim)

i still think the ps3 is pretty reliable,i think sonys QA on the refurbs are the main reason for most of the failures ive had.

Similarly, I've had 5 - all are still going strong (ish)

250Gb slim in living room, for family play and movies

60Gb in my office

60Gb in my lad's bedroom

40Gb in my man cave - this one has had 2 replacement bluray lasers, but otherwise going strong

60Gb at me ex-wife's, where my lads are most of the time.

All phatbois have had 500Gb HDD brain surgery

I agree with TamKing the quality of the refurbs is a very big issue

only had 2 so far

launch day 60 gb that i had upto last year when it was reluctantly sold on after developing the awful fan noise that sounded like a fighter jet
as far as im aware its still running now

250gb slim which i have had for just over a year and no issues with it at all

I'm on my Second one since the lauch but even thats over 3yrs old , My Son bought a 40gb when they came out and after 7months that packed in , so he is on 2 now as well.

I have 3 PS3's now, but have had 5 in total..

2 were faulty:

- 40GB PS3 phat, corrupted HDD after 3 months (3 years ago)

- 320GB slim - this march - blu-ray drive died after 2 weeks

Edit: I nearly forgot about continuous play; the amazing service I never got to subscribe to due to abuse.

ALso, the OP keeps on getting YLOD's, i assume he keeps getting phat refurbs??

2. I  had a 60gb since 2007 which BR drive failed then I have had a slim for the past 18 months.

Ive only had 2 ps3's, an 80gb and now a 320gb ive had for a few weeks

1 planning to get a slim ps3 soon.   i still have my 60gb from launch and still works after 5 years.
