How to remove disc from crashed PS3

My console has crashed as per another post I put up a couple of days ago. I have rung Customer support who have advised me that the colour sequence is the one that says it has an internal component failure (ie PS3 no good no more send in and we will replace or fix for $175.00) not keen to do that considering I can pick them up for around $230 in a small bundle. My questions is therefore how do I get my MW3 game out of the console if I can't start it. Please help as I have a loner console from a mate but can't play until I get my disc.

Re: How to remove disc from crashed PS3

Read your PS3 manual. There is a manual eject procedure described within (I am, of course, assuming you own a PS3 Slim). It involves opening a small panel on the underside of the console, placing a screwdriver in and turning it to manually eject the disc.

If you have an older model PS3, specifically the 40GB original model, then you could try the force eject procedure which only works with the later models of the original design. This involves pressing and holding eject while turning the console on.

Anyway, good luck, and in future could you mention which PS3 console you actually own. It would help us a lot.

Re: How to remove disc from crashed PS3

Hi there dsthomas1

Sorry to hear your console crashed. But here is some instructions on how to retrieve your disk

Slim Line PS3:

1
. Unplug the PS3 from all cables including power
2. Clear an area to work in place a towel or something similar down to work on
3. Position the PS3 in a way where you will be able to easily access the underside of the unit
4. Looking from the front to the back of the console, on the edge closest to you there will be a warranty seal and to the left there will be a small rectangular
flap with a small area cut away on one side
5. Using a small flat object gently open this flap which will be attached on the right hand side to the console and to the left you will see a small blue screw
(do not touch the blue screw this is for replacing / upgrading the HDD)
5. You will then need to remove the flap by lifting it directly up from the console and this will expose a second hole
6. In this hole is a small metal membrane that you will need to use a Phillips head screwdriver to push though to access a screw below that to manually eject the disc
7. Once you have pieced the membrane and you have located the screw with the Philips head screwdriver and turn the screwdriver counterclockwise until the disc is ejected

Fat PS3

Ensure the PS3 is switched off. Whilst holding the eject button on the front of the PS3, turn on the console using the main power switch at the back of the unit.
The disc will be ejected from the unit.

Hope this helps you
