Re: I think it's finally happened to me...

Simple solution to get your discs out of your faulty FAT ps3's, this isnt a joke either i did this when my very first ps3 60GB died with mw2 in it.

1 - put your ps3 in a thick jumper, tie the sleeves together and cover the bottom
2 - get a hair dryer and put it on the 2nd to hottest setting
3 - put the hair dryer under the jumper and dont let heat escape
4 - heat up for exactly 30 seconds, feel ya ps3, if still warm carry on for a further 30 seconds until the outter caseing is really hot (not hot enough to burn you though)
5 - take out the ps3, leave for 2 hours untill its back to normal tempeture
6 - turn it on, it will boot up and you can grab your disc, and back up anything you need to

Please note: this is only a tempoary fix, your ps3 could go again at any point, but it will last you long enough to get any save data or what ever.

This 100% works if done right using my steps, but note proceed at own risk.

I'm not going to repair it just for it to die again.

I'm just going to take it apart, get the disc out, bin the console and then buy a Slim. :smileyvery-happy:

That's why I suggested the hairdryer trick. Cover all the vents, put it in a box and blow a hairdryer into the vents which temporarily heats up, and reseats the chips hopfully making the console work for a matter of minutes/hours while you get the disc out, deactivate the console or even make a quick back up (not always guaranteed though).

I'd really recommend checking out your local repair places. I've previously fixed my ps2 but watching the YouTube guides for ylod made me worry about screwing it up. I live in Birmingham and there's a guy in the city centre doing it for 45 quid. Since the repair I've had no problems at all - its quiet and is not getting hot even after a few hours of online gaming.

Yeah the 6 month limit doesn't really matter anyway unless you activate 5 PS3s after you last deactivated them all. Then if one of those 5 broke and was replaced, you wouldn't be able to activate it for another 6 months... not many people have 5 PS3s though lol...

Re-read T&C your only allowed 2 active PS3s at one time now on your PSN ID. If you whipe the activations Via the Site you can only re-activate 2 PS3s.

No you're mistaken. You're allowed 5 active but only 2 for content released post November 2011 (which is where the new policy was instated) you can still have the content released prior to November 2011 on 5 active Playstation 3s.

I've whiped and since reactivated 5 PS3s no problem. The 2 activation thing only applies to content released after November 2011, and it takes your first two of 5 activations as those 2, then the remaining 3 PS3s can't activate any content except the stuff released before November 2011.

They can't legally retroactively apply terms and conditions to content consumers have already purchased. As in, content prior to Nov 2011 was sold under the premise that it could be activated on 5 Playstation 3 systems, a withdrawal of that would be on shaky legal grounds.

Re: I think it's finally happened to me...

indeed all content got before the T&C's were changed can still be kept working on 5 Ps3's

But any content after can't.

with 3 Ps3's in my house I like to buy content on my account for my kids and now I can't do that as it mean having to constantly deativate a console to use any new downloads between the three console which is stupid I should not have to do this.

I am not putting cash on a childs account for them to spend all things bought are through my acount which makes it very hard to give them the stuff they need if we are all playing the same game togther LBP, LBP2 modnation racers to name a few on different consoles, it mean one of them has to go with out.

Perfetic realy!

It needs to be sorted.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?
