@S1MON_AZAR1

I am looking at the long term based on my experience as a child and not being restricted, i grew up alright, i suspect my kids will too.

@Trivvy

Very true, its the way they are brought up.

When you were a child, the graphics and content were no where near what they are today. Comparing the two isn't a fair comparison.

You're comparing Sonic to GTA

Re: I've been thinking, and it hurt.

Comparing a computer game based on crime to real life crime isn't a fair comparison either.. The media has brainwashed you more then computer games brainwash children.

Films on the other hand are slightly different, they are real people acting and to a young mind could be mislead to thinking that is real I suppose.

I never compared computer games based on crime to real life crime.

I said that it affects the behaviours, psychology and mannerisms of kids. Games are getting so good graphically that their video sequences can't be distinguished from film or animation too.

If the parents are proving to be too irresponsible, why don't the hardware companies take the baton and add age restriction features to stop kids playing over 18 content? I heard Sony have implemented Cinivia (SP) to the PS3 and new blurays to prevent piracy, so if they can do that, why would this be so difficult?

I will decide what my (future) kids do/don't see/play.

On the note of game ratings though, I had a quick blip through my collection. Under the scheme above: You'd have to be 7 to play little big planet, 12 to play sonic mega collection, 18 to play resident evil 5. Some ratings I found a tad odd were Modnation racers which is a 7, next to burnout 3, which is a 3??? Assassins creed is only a 15 though?

Thats absurd of course they can be distinguished. If were talking GTA here then the awful ragdoll physics and cartoony graphics give it away straight away. COD

There is no proven link between computer games and violence etc.

One of the most common criticisms of video games is that they increase the violent tendencies among youth. However, several major studies by groups such as The Harvard Medical School Center for Mental HealthThe Journal of Adolescent Health, and The British Medical Journal have shown no conclusive link between video game usage and violent activity.

Would you like me to stop my son riding his bike on the road, cars & lorries are big and dangerous? Shall I stop him riding his motor bike at the weekends or his BMX as they can hurt.

Like my dad says; ''you cant wrap them in cotton wool and stop them having FUN!''

@S1MON_AZAR1

When i was a child the stuff i watched in films was far worse than the stuff kids see in games today.

Oh by the way i was playing games long before sonic was even thought of.
