No I don't.

Going for the top AAA games that appeal to me or are sequels, or just what you expect to be good like Mass Effect 3 and SSX to name a few recent ones can lead to being disappointments. So I'm not going to go for games of less then average qualities, or ones I know nothing about only to regret it even more.

This year so far, and looking at the reminder of it is probably the worst I've ever know. I think I need a new hobby while I wait for one of the Christmas rushes to get delayed into next year :smileyindifferent: :xCry:

i was bummed out when i heard bioshock was delayed, only game i was really lookng forward to, i too normally go for just the big releases, but dont you feel you'll miss out on a few gems that flew under the radar just cause they were not AAA games? In a way impulse buying can infact lead to you getting games you may actually enjoy! :smileyhappy: I got a while back, the darkness and darksiders, two rather good games, especially darksiders.

I sometimes impulse buy, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I went into game years ago not really sure what I was looking for - knights of the old republic looked interesting and it is my favourite game of all time. Saw Uncharted 2 for £15 in sainsburys a while ago and got it.

However, the force unleashed? some god-awful bike racing game (i can't even remember the name - it was an off-road thing) MW2 (it was £5!) not so successful.

I wouldn't impulse buy a £30 game but a tenner? sure.

edit: hmm for some reason my brain refused to recall the name of "the force unleashed".

Well no because usually I'm busy playing games to miss anything. Its just this year has been pretty slow and Tomb Raider was also delayed as well and I seem many more games as we draw closer to their release :smileysad:

If there isn't much out then I back track and play games I missed like Grid which I'm playing now, and the God of War V2 Collection. Also playing the original Max Payne, a game I've played so many times in the past.

Darksiders was a good game anyway and something that appealed to me so games like that aren't really impulse buying. Anything else that doesn't appeal to me I don't play.

Re: Impulse buying

Just got burned by my impluse buying found out that the USB 2 hub and USB RF headset Don't like each other on PS3.

When I plug the RF head set base into the USB 2 7port Hub. It causes a VIdeo Feed back interferance and A high pitch tone from The Audio channels on the PS3.

spent the last 2 days trying to figure out why this was happening, The strange thing was that it went into the USB ports though the Video and Audio chips of the PS3 than up the lead to the TV. yet the PS3 did not fliter it out...

Re: Impulse buying

I get tempted to impluse buy games or DLC sometimes but I have to pull away from it. My rule of thumb is I'll never buy a game on release until all it's DLC and post launch support has been done.

Take AC III for example, I won't be buying that the day it comes out as much as I want to play it. I'll wait untill middle of next year when the DLC and post launch patches have finished then probably pick it up cheap and chances are there is a package deal on PSN Store  of AC III DLC by then aswell. That way I not only save money, I also get the full 100% AC III game in SP and MP.

Also nifty gives me a handy extension of time to finish my current games collection and as with AC III I want to re-run threw AC II- Brotherhood and Revelations all with post launch content added.
