Hey all,

I have a CECHG04 PlayStation. The disk will get insterted into the PS3, but after that nothing happens. Do I need to replace the whole laser? Is it a different issue? I haven't encountered it before. No error message comes up, nothing. As if a disk wasn't inserted at all. Any help?

taking consideration your post count i have to ask: are u sure u didnt turn disc autoplay feature accidently off recently?

This happened to me, in my case  the rotation motor had burned out. I could tell because the game disc came out the exact orientation that i had put it in and i could hear it wasnt spinning also.

 My warranty was long gone and i was sure of the issue and of what part i needed ( I knew the model number of the laser module) So i bought one for £30ish and replaced it myself.

could be a number of things, from laser, to motor, to ribbon cable connectors...
to the PS3 simply getting confused.

Right so,

The disk DOESN'T spin, and autoplay is on. So, do I need to buy a new motor or laser? Or both just to be sure? Oh and it's a game disk. But the same happens with all disks.

u need to buy a full new disk unit if all discs r the same
