You can also try renting a few games before you buy, That way you dont waste any money on games.

I'd also recommend LittleBigPlanet - it's a platformer in essence so wouldn't be too complicated in terms of controls, but switching between planes etc. might be a great way of getting used to it :smileyhappy:

I do this, but then after i complete it i find no point in buying it.

 

U could probably pick up Little Big Planet for about £5-£10

Some of the best games I've found to get people (mainly my Girlfriend) used to the pad and using the analog sticks are Burnout, Lumines, Mega Drive Collection and LBP. Music/Guitar games are also good because it helps them develop their reaction times as well as dexterity.

It's £17 new on Amazon.

 

It's gone up in price since I last looked, was around £11 at one stage.
