Re: Is MGS4 a must have title?

Hello to all

From playing MGS on the original Playstation, I became a big fan of the series. When I was a 360 owner I was envious that MGS4 never got multiplatformed, but now that I have the PS3...the urge to play it has gone.

Is this title still ground breaking to play to this day, or has it aged badly and only the story sections are any good?

Please give the pro's and con's of the game.

Simple answer No,,,,The original MGS has never been surpassed , is MGS4 worth a play yes but as for a must own No Way Hozey. Some great game play great graphics , storyline Hmm has disappeared ,, If you want a game where you spend 60% of it watching cut scenes then go for it,,as for me , when I want a movie I'll either but one rent one or download one ,, When I play a game that's what I want to do is play a game not watch a movie with a few bits of gameplay here and there.

£10 preowned for a 20 odd hour game (yes including cut scenes which I don't mind its part of the story) what's not to like about that

Does a bear .... in the woods? But, seriously; it is an incredible piece of entertainment. Amazing artistic style (remember all of the textures in MGSIV are created by artists, not captured with photography). If you've played the others, you need to see what happens. There are long cut-scenes, but if your a fan of the series you won't mind (good excuse for a cupper as well). At first, seems linear, but lots of different paths to discover. Epic story line (as ever). Incredible orchestration. The finale is the best of any MGSIV (and you'll see why). Even an in-depth Epilogue, so don't skip the credits at the end!!

MGO offers a great deal by itself - yeah, you'll love it....

Yes. Still one of the best games on the PS3. Above the original Uncharted.

Re: Is MGS4 a must have title?

Well after watching some gameplay footage, I think I will get the game.

I still have to platinum Infamous and Heavy Rain, and by the time thats done GT5 will be out. But MGS4 does look a great game.

Such a shame they never added some trophies though to expand the game even more.

If you like watching things then you'll love this game, as watching it what you will spend 90% of the time doing.

Re: Is MGS4 a must have title?

Definitely my least favourite MGS. I'd say no, it's not a must have title but if you've played and loved the other MGS games then by all means get it.

Thats part of the game tho Its called 'immersion'.

Its funny how people (not saying you) moan that games don't have a story etc or it wasn't very well told, then you get games like this that does things a bit differently and tells it, albeit, a mind bending one, in long cut scenes I don't get it.

I guess its down to how you want to look at it. Some people like to know their in control of the game and story by pressing buttons all the time, others don't mind a lengthy cut scene because they are following the story and getting immersed into it deeper and deeper as it unfolds. Maybe you just struggled with the latter so you are on an MGS hate mission? :smileytongue:

There has to be a balance though, and MGS gets it completely wrong.

The game is made more as a project for Kojima to explore all his oddities and fetishes rather than making something that might be entertaining for anyone other than him to play.

I wouldn't say I'm on a hate mission as such, I just say it as I see it; although MGS is a pretty easy game to hate I'll give you that.
