Is it worth changing my TV?

[ Edited ]

I currently own the Sony Bravia 40 " KDL-40W4500 tv and have had it for around 2 - 3 years.

I am considering upgrading for a 3D tv but want to know if its worth it.  Will use the 3D feature for games mainly as my wife and the kids are not interested in it.

My current TV has 3 hdmi ports but I could do with a fourth as the kids are having an xbox for Christmas.  I noticed yesterday that there is a slight mark on the screen but when I touch the screen there is no scratch so its something within the TV itself.

At the moment I have £400.00 saved and am wondering if its worth investing in.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

If we still have to wear glasses; then going 3D is not worth it. Most of the games that support the 3D feature look surprisingly average to say the least and your TV is pretty good as it is, so I would say, stick with it.

A 3DTV that's dependent on glasses is not a true 3D television.

Re: Is it worth changing my TV?

My sister has a 3D LG tv and believe me the 3D feature gets old after a while, when she first got it everyone used to watch and play things in 3D but now she doesnt use it in 3D that much, im never getting a 3D tv because it just seems like a gimmik to me and not necessary

'I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture!

Toshiba And Panasonic allready have 3D HDTVs for sale that DO NOT need 3D glasses. Just like The GBA DS 3DS.

The cost >£10.000, small screen size, Limited sweet spot, means no body is yet buying them beyond technology centres for demos.

Once again most will wait for the price drops and Domestic versions.

LED and POWER saving (low wattage) HDTVs have allready replaced 3D as the "IN" thing for now.

Re: Is it worth changing my TV?

So what your basically saying is these bits of kit are still in the R+D phase and are not available to the general public.

One 3DTV was priced at £12,000 and it doesn't need glasses.  But where would I get that sort of money from? I only get payed minimum wage.
