Is the PS3 with Mickey Mouse browser a games console or a fitness training device?

[ Edited ]

You can have games controllers, keyboards, remote controls, 'Move/Nav' devices all wifi enabled - but what you can't have as far as I can see, is a wifi enabled way of restarting the bloody thing when it crashes!

Being as Sony lost $6.4billion this year - are they now wanting to diversify into the fitness market? Is the PS3 infact an elaborate new fitness device mascarading as a games console with built-in Blu-Ray player & token Christmas Cracker browser; whereby when my PS3's crashed yet again, giving me no clue WHEN IT HAPPENS as to WHY it did, let alone what I might do to prevent it crashing in the first place, that what they really want to do, is keep me fit - since I have to crawl across from where I'm sitting on the floor resting against the sofa about 5ft in front of the TV to the PS3 to press the bloody power button again?

Is this Sony's idea of calesthenics?

Again, 1,2,3 bend & stretch - bend & stretch - altogether now - stetch those limbs - afterall people - no pain no gain!

Anyone for chess?

If you want to know just how bad I am at playing chess - I'll probably be in Indie Park across the pond annoying them on the Kindergarten Land server!

How can you build two massive twin skyscrapers and then not devise a way of getting down from them quickly - Steve Mcqueen warned them in 1974 in The Towering Inferno - at the end of the film he told Paul Newman's "architect" to come and see him & Paul Newman agreed - what happened people - where did it all go wrong on 9/11?

Don't they watch their own movies or something?!!!

Couldn't they have built something like this round the main lift-shafts?

Have to agree with the fitness post, it Does ruin a otherwise relaxing evening, especially when it's a continuous event. And i too have wondered why theres no remote/wi-fi or bluetooth device for restarting it, i reckon i would even pay up to £20(ish) for one... maybe they'll make one someday.

About the skyscrapers/towering inferno, i believe there was no way, fast or otherwise for those poor souls to get out, as all the stairwells, liftshafts were destroyed by the burning jetfuel.. erm short of having a parachute i doubt there was any other way (safely) down... but i don't have info about the roof and any possible methods that may of been able to have helped.

And no - I can't put it all in one post - why? I can't put it all in one post, because I only have a PS3 and Sony saw fit to include a browser that only allows to you type around a thousand characters or so when using a CRT TV - why? I don't know why - ask them - maybe they'll bring out an 'all-singing-all-dancing' PS4 that includes a proper browser, or maybe they'll just be bought out by Samsung or some other tech giant - along with Nokia probably - aren't they in a mess too?!!!

How about you wait like a normal person for a patch to come  out and give sony sometime to fix the problem before criticising them and the console for something that is easily fixed.

Ever heard of patience? And if you are that sick of your ps3 go trade it in and get an alternate product like the Xbox. You will soon get sick of them and run back to PS3 again and by that time the problem will of been fixed.

And from expirience i can tell you Xbox Live just isnt what its cracked up to be. Millions of people have had issues with it past and present and that includes permanant account bannings over minor issues

Re: Is the PS3 with Mickey Mouse browser a games console or a fitness training device?

lol... i Very much doubt, (imo) that the 'mickey mouse' browser will, or could be improved, my understanding is it was/is a design flaw in that the amount of 'available' RAM was Very, very small.. So theres basically not much to be done, well cost efficiently at least. I think that your defendind of sony, though admirable, is a little misplaced, leastways in attempting to do so for the browser, i think most people who use it will side with the OP and his description, however your disagreement with his way of expression is entirely up to you..Myself i found his comments quite normal, and moreso Very common amongst regular users of that feature. Obviously the ps3 is for gaming, But the 'it only does everthing' ad is (again, imo.) kinda false. I am sad to also say the VITAs browser is not much better either, considering the year etc.

@ Logicintuwisdom

Thanks for the extra info, i didn't know about the roof being inaccessible due to those reasons, as i Have often wondered why no-one headed there, or indeed (and still.) Why the forces and emergency services never attempted rescue from their, i suppose they 'could' of used explosives to get through locked doors, or 'minor' obstacles, but sadly this didn't happen, i 'guess' your description/use of the film towering inferno could, indeed should of made more thought go into these structures escape measures, another sad (ironic ?) thing is that a movie basically telling 'that days' events was either due for release or had been canned the previous year, another arrow for the conspiracy theorists ?, i don't think i will ever forget that day, where i was and what i felt while watching.

Oh god its this guy that can't just be straight to the point and thorough, he has to drag all sorts of story's into his posts, then moan about the 1000 character text limit when no ones even asked why he's double posted :smileyindifferent:

I don't believe the time needed is the issue, probably more about loss of concentration and enjoyment when browsing a webpage, plus as i mentioned the relaxed feeling that 'usually' goes into that mix is imo the main 'loss' of having to 'get-up' and restart system.. now obviously nothing too major there, but for costs incurred being a gamer And after the hard days/nights work needed (by some) to meet these, the loss of that relaxed feeling is, in this technological era, very irritating.
