Yea but without the firmware the PS3 is a brick. So Sony forces you to use their firmware even though the hardware is yours. Also dont you own the firmware that came with the system (which can be modded to go on PSN)?

Yes, they can tell. If it causes problems with their servers or a user reports them. Or they flag up as sending dodgy packets to the server. Then they can check what they have done and ban.
It would also act as a deterent to stop other modders modding games online.

While I agree that there is a certain type of users who mod online games, you have to think - where does it start? Surely not with the 14 year old who knows no better? No, with the people who 'should' know better. The majority of people who use it will be sheep.

I also don't understand why you took "suffer" out of context. Didn't you just say that you also lost the Other OS feature?..

Oh, and as Plambey said, Microsoft did go on a massive banning spree not too long ago.

Once again, I remind you that we have an existing Hacking thread. It is there to stop our forums being clogged up with threads on this subject - use it.

Secondly, our House Rules forbid the condoning or promoting of hacks. Feel free to discuss the matter - but openly supporting hacking or piracy is not allowed here.
