I PERSONALLY THINK SONY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE LOYAL PS COMMUNITY.SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE POINT IN THE BLOG.SHARE IF THE TOP AND MOST REQUESTED FEATURES HAVE NOT BEEN IMPLEMENTED? I UNDERSTAND THAT EVERTHING TAKES TINE,RESOURCES N MONEY,BUT DAMN ITS BEEN YEARS N NO OFFICIAL WORD ON CROSS GAME CHAT.BY THE TIME YOU KNOW IT PS4 WILL BE OUT SMH.

I EMAIL SONY CUSTOMER SERVICES EXPRESSING MY FRUSTRATION N WHAT NOT,BUT THEY CONSTANTLY DODGE MY QUESTIONS N QUIRES WITH BS.IN MY OPINION THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO MAKE OUR CONSOLE GREAT N ENTERTANING AGAIN

1.CROSS GAME CHATNot enough RAM

2.BRAND NEW REDESIGN OF THE CURRENT BORING XMBI don't like it but it's not going to happen

3.SMOOTHER AND FASTER INTERNET BROWSEReven after the last update it still remains poor so doubt it would happen

4.WIDE VARIETY OF VISUALS FOR MUSIC PLAYER why? if i was wacthing something i would wacth a music video instead of visuals

5.IN GAME MUSICdown to the developer, just use a MP3 player :smileyvery-happy:

6.MORE CLOUD SPACE FOR SAVE GAME DATAdoubt it would happen

7.BETTER AVATARS N CUSTOM PICTURES FOR PSN IDyou can buy better avatars as for custum people will abuse it

8.ABILITY TO CHANGE PSN ID LIKE XBOX REGARDLESS IF THERE IS A COST INVOLVEDPick a better gamertag to start with then it is not needed

9.PLAYSTATION.BLOG INCORPORATED INTO XMB WITH LIVE FEED FROM SONYnot bothers personaly but I guess it be gould for some

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE

@phantom2k88, Wooo mate, easy on the caps!

1) Cross-game chat - Microsoft own the patent for this i believe, and i also believe the PS3 doesnt have enough RAM to support it.Microsoft do not own that and yes the PS3 does not have any spare ram sony confirmed this by saying all avalibe RAM is used leaving none for it.

Re: Next PS3 Firmware?

@Crusty - i thought so, but i did remember in the early days of cross-game chat debatting that Microsoft patent was thrown around, so i thought if the RAM issue was wrong, then the MS patent could be right, appears to have been the other way round lol.

@Kermit1970

i didn't say whether the sony employee was official or not,but we don't know who said cross game chat cannot be implemented because of ram space, plus we don't evden know his/her position as a sony employee,so for all we know it could be BS.as i said in an earlier post this is sony 'make believe' so in my eyes anything is possible.if parts of the ps3 can be used to build the worlds strongest computer, then anything is possible.we have to hear from someone on the sony team that deals with firmware updates n the ideas that can be developed n worked on whether cross game chat can or cannot be implemented

Unsure as to how this would work, and what hotkey would be used, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

I know the facility's already there, but it's down to individual games to implement it, and how many of them can you think of so far?

Something like the vita has would be nice, it's built into the operating system by default, but developers can disable it. Many don't, some disable it so you use their in-game screenshot thing (like WipEout) which makes their games look better, but some just don't have it.

I don't think we will ever see it properly, because some developers just don't want it, for whatever reason.

The only way cross game chat can work is by having extra RAM

SCEE  have said the Ps3 RAM is dedicated to other things.

If they implimented cross game chat it would mean the console would not work how it was meant to.

Yes SCEE have said no the PS3 can't/won't do cross game chat.

Just get over it! As much as I would like it I have got over it.

Why do you need to know the position of a SCEE employee who said this, are you klinging to hope?

It can't be done and won't be done.

Maybe in the Ps4.

I think he wants Kaz Hirai to write him a personal letter. But I bet he still won't believe that Kaz is a Sony employee

@ phantom. Did you actually read the link. The below is who said it. Wow it doesn't mention anything about being a Sony employee does it

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida

Re: Next PS3 Firmware?

they should really make a whole new xmb menu and mayby start more interactive games with the community.. xbox have out way more effort into improvment to there system, just feel thats were playstation lacks in the market, and as for cross game chat and not being enough ram there should be plenty more ram in the ps3 as it loads slow most of the time this is due to no random access memory.. that was a big fault.. it is a great machine, but it could be alot better if the time and effort was put in!

You could maybe help them out with their next system, I'm sure they could do with a chap on the team like you.

Re: Next PS3 Firmware?

Its not soley that there isnt enough RAM... its how the RAM is allocated. The PS3 has the RAM allocated for the games so the games run smoother, not for idling in the background. I personally would rather a smooth game than slowdown every 30seconds because there wasnt enough RAM. You can have 8gb of RAM in a computer, but if it is allocated properly, the computer is still gonna have p*** poor performance.
