Sorry to post in here but i wouldnt allow me to post in the tech help section.

I'm having a very odd problem with my ps3 and sound on games, When i load up games most of the time i dont get any sound and have to quit and load again. some times load the game up a few times before getting sound.

now i dont have any trouble with the menu system or with blu-rays only games both new and old games,

my console is setup to the tv via a hdmi cable and this has only just started happening as if was fine before.

I've tryed with a diffrent cable also tryed in a diffrent hdmi port on tv, so i know its not the cable or tv and my 360 is fine connected with a hdmi cable,

ive tryed fiddling with the settings but its not happening really cant understand whats happend,

can anyone give any advice before i end up buying a new ps3 lol also i have a 40gb ps3

Have you tried a reset?

if you mean by holding the on/off button untill it beeps then changes display output n sound then yes if you mean something els no, was thinking of restoring to factory settings but at the moment i dont have internet in my home so will lose latest updates

I don't really know, thats quite strange, and you say it works on the XMB and with blu-rays etc?

I did mean holding the on/off button yes.

yea just games, they load up but without any sound so i have to press the ps3 button on pad quit game then load again, sometimes then it comes stright on but sometimes i need to do it around 3 or 4 times. also happends with demos that ive tryed. not probs on xbm as i also after quiting the game hovver over a demo that plays music just to double check.

ive had the ps3 for about 2 years havn't had trouble before and has happend all of a sudden ive reset the settings countless number of times and by changing the hdmi cable and port the problem can only be on with the ps3 rather than anything els.

I get the samething. Switching your TV off and on should work. It works for me, anyway.

yeah i did work with turning tv off when there no sound then it does give me sound, so there anyway of fixing this problem so i dont have to turn my tv off and on all the time or is there something internal wrong with the ps3. as im sure its not a fault with the tv as 360 sky and everything els works fine.

Same here, so it must just be the PS3.

Yet we seem to be the only ones with this problem.
