Re: Not only EA to charge for online entitlement, ModNation follows suit.

Really does not matter.  Not to end users anyway.

The reality:

If Game sell a title that needs additional coupon to be bought, it will have to be sold less than other games around it (otherwise it won't sell), so the reality is, end users will get these games cheaper to compensate for the fact they have to buy a token to play it online.

but on the other hand, the person that traded it in will also have got less for it than they normally would have.

Perhaps, but can they REALLY give and less for trade-ins?  The price they give is already shockingly low...

Re: Not only EA to charge for online entitlement, ModNation follows suit.

I don't think trade prices are too bad on 'newish' games, they do drop considerably after the game has been out a while though. I bought Super Street Fighter 4 from Asda new for £19.71 and could get £24 for it if I traded it in now at gamestation (price match cex). If SSFIV had an online code you can guarantee that would knock at least a tenner off that.

All it means is people will wait before they buy games and get them at the £20 mark new cos the PX value will be low,i intend to do so.so everybody loses ,end users pay around the same just have to wait a whie before they buy, retail and devs miss out, only SOE win's cos im sure they get a % from psn sales for online access keys.

Re: Not only EA to charge for online entitlement, ModNation follows suit.

The used market has constantly been crippling the industry, I'm all for it being cracked down on.

I buy all my games new off the internet about a month after release, when they hit £18 :smileytongue:

do you trade in though?

I buy all my games new as well but I also trade them in when I've finished with them, I wouldn't be able to do that if nobody bought 2nd hand games. I probably wouldn't be able to buy as many new games asI do if I couldn't trade in.

Thanks to the competition of the used market. Without the used market they would not hit £18 one month after release.

Re: Not only EA to charge for online entitlement, ModNation follows suit.ink this is so wrong

I think its an ok idea really. it still allows the 2nd hand market to continue, while the original publishers of the game still get some money for their creation.

The only flaw i see is how do 2nd hand buyers and sellers know if the code on the 2nd hand item if still usuable or not? it would be a bit of a gamble.
