Just don't use currys, here's a long story that'll put you off.
18 months ago I got a £1000 pound voucher from a make a wish charity cause I had leukemia, went in to pc world (thats part of dsg, the peeps who own currys) and bought a laptop for exactly £1000 plus insurance, 2 weeks later the keys started sticking, I noticed abig scratch on it and the sound was *****, took it back only for them to say it was a display model of which they didn't tell me in the first place, but anyway they could only give me a voucher for £779 as replacement, this could be spent at any dsg ltd store (currys, currys digital, pc world, dixons and the link).
Anywho, I ended up getting a £1200 laptop at currys digital as a replacement because the other model was no longer available, I also got out insurance again as well, this obviously meant I had to add another £420 of my own money.
Cut a long story short, It overheated a lot despite being well ventilated from the very first time I used it, a few days later I sent it off for check/repair and got it back and it was still doing it and iver the course of 12 months it went back and forth 6 times and the overheating was causing numerous other problems, finally we said we demanded it was written off, the guy picked it up, 2 weeks later it got delivered back not working at all, rung up again and they said they'll pick it up after an hour with some thick as 2 short planks technician, a onth later we rung up to check what was happening and they were in the process of writing it off, 2 weeks later we had to ring again, they told us it has just been written off due to a manufacturing fault and then finally another month later we got the vouchers, and guess what.....
£729,
, so we rung up and complained and they said a pile of prerehearsed crap and we couldn't get our point through their thick skulls ao we wrote a letter to their big wigs and got what looked like a prerehearsed letter back, anywho, I didn't want to give up cause I'm not the sort of person who does but I desperately needed a laptop and decided to cut my losses.
So I got on the currys, dixons and pc world sites and found a nice laptop for £800, rung up and they said I can only use the vouchers in store, however everything in store is either too expensive or a complete pile of crap, so we rung them and said that under the circumstances and because of the troubles they have put us through could they just possibly drop one of the models off their online sector in to a local store, no he said and then we said can we speak to their customer services and he put us through...
This guy was useless, and we said can we go to anyone higher and he said I am the highest person you can talk to over the phone, please write a letter, of which we had already done once and we're not doing again, so we were pretty buggered.
Thankfully for me a good one which I had to add £200 to came in just in time before the 3 month limit on the vouchers went but it was a long 18 months.
